Staycation: a vacation spent in one’s home country rather than abroad, or one spent at home and involving day trips to local attractions.
I needed a change of environment since I’ve been working from home like the rest of us. So I decided to take advantage of the Columbus Day holiday weekend by going on a staycation. Initially, I wanted to go to Lake Placid but once I realized the commute time I opted for Connecticut instead. This was the first year that I have ever visited this state and I love it. This past September I stayed at the Water’s Edge Resort and Spa and for this trip, I stayed at The J House Greenwich Hotel. It took me an hour to get from Central NJ to the hotel which is not bad at all. What attracted me to this hotel was the contemporary boutique style. The guest rooms are high-tech, outdoor heated pool, SPA, 24 Hr fitness center, and restaurant. Might I add the free continental breakfast. I stayed from Saturday to Monday and the total price was under $450.00.

Prior to arriving at the hotel, I had dinner on the rooftop at The Sign of the Whale restaurant . The restaurant is less than 10 mins away from the hotel. There are some neighboring restaurants with rooftop dining as well Mexicue and Fortina . Mexicue has the best view since it sits right on the harbor. This location gives the New York locations a run for their money. I would like to mention at The Sign of Whale they did practice social distancing tables that were more than 6 ft apart. Guest who had reservations were only allowed upstairs at the rooftop. The rooftop was very spacious not like NY rooftops. All waiters wore masks but no temperature was checked prior to entrance. After dinner, I headed straight to the hotel and was greeted with a glass of prosecco upon arrival. My temperature was not checked but all guests and employees wore masks at all times. The fitness center was restricted to three people at a time since it is a bit tiny.

The lobby has the nicest fireplace. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. I decided to skip brunch and have dinner on Sunday. The food and service were perfect. Besides the restaurant, there is a little coffee bar where breakfast is served and there is a little seating section as well. If you chose to leave the hotel there are some food options up the street and a liquor store. I forgot my bathing suit at home so of course, I made a target run which was less than 10 mins away. My room was very high tech these are some of the things included in the room 55” LED Mirror Television, fully automated lights, and shades, LED bed accents, and a state-of-the-art Toto Neorest® in the washroom, there was also a 15″ Bathroom Mirror TV. The only con I had was there was a shower and not a tub.
I enjoyed my staycation. I have no complaints at all. Have you recently done a staycation if so, please share below.

Im thinking of doing a staycation soon and hopefully I stay in a hotel as good .
